💨 1. Your Airflow Isn't What It Should Be
Weak airflow is a symptom — not a diagnosis.
Cleaning may solve the problem when buildup is restricting the system, but airflow can also be affected by damaged ductwork, excessive bends, crushed sections, disconnected ducts or problems at the exterior vent.
The first step is determining where the restriction or problem is actually occurring.
🔍 2. You Have a Problem That Keeps Coming Back
If you've already cleaned or serviced a ventilation system but the same problem continues to return, there may be an underlying issue that hasn't been addressed.
Instead of repeatedly treating the symptom, an inspection can help identify whether something else in the ventilation pathway is contributing to the problem.
🏠 3. You're Buying, Selling or Renovating a Home
Ventilation systems aren't always easy to evaluate from what you can see inside the room.
An inspection can help identify visible or accessible issues with dryer vents, bathroom exhaust systems and other residential ventilation components before or during renovations or other work.
When we find something worth addressing, we'll explain what we see and what options are available.
🛠️ 4. You Want to Know What Actually Needs to Be Done
Not every ventilation problem requires replacement.
And not every ventilation problem can be solved with cleaning.
Diagnostics allow us to evaluate the situation first and determine whether the appropriate next step is cleaning, repair, modification, replacement or simply no work at all.
The recommendation should follow the diagnosis — not the other way around.

Professional Ventilation Diagnostics Montreal
At VentGuardian, we inspect residential ventilation systems to help identify airflow problems, damaged components, improper connections and other issues that may be affecting their operation.
Depending on the system and accessibility, diagnostics may include:
💨 Airflow evaluation
🔍 Visual inspection of accessible ductwork
🏠 Exterior vent inspection
🔗 Checking accessible duct connections
🛠️ Looking for crushed, damaged or poorly routed venting
📸 Photos of relevant findings when appropriate
🧭 Identifying possible causes of ventilation problems
📋 Recommendations based on what we actually find
🛡️ Protecting One Home at a Time.
Finding the Problem Comes Before Fixing It
Weak airflow, excess moisture, long dryer cycles and other ventilation problems don't always have an obvious cause.
The problem could involve a blockage, damaged ductwork, poor routing, a disconnected vent, an exterior termination, equipment performance, or a combination of issues.
A proper inspection helps identify what is actually happening before recommending cleaning, repair or replacement.
Diagnosis Before Recommendation
One of the easiest mistakes with a ventilation problem is assuming the solution before identifying the cause.
A dryer taking too long to dry doesn't automatically mean the duct needs cleaning.
A bathroom staying humid doesn't automatically mean the fan needs replacing.
Poor airflow doesn't automatically mean the entire ventilation system needs to be rebuilt.
We start by looking at the system and the symptoms together.
If the problem is straightforward, we'll explain it.
If further investigation is required, we'll tell you that too.
What Happens After the Inspection?
Once we've identified the likely cause of the problem, we'll explain:
🔍 What we found
⚠️ Why it may be affecting the system
🔧 What can reasonably be corrected
💰 What work we recommend before you authorize it
If no repair or cleaning is necessary, we'll tell you that too.
The purpose of diagnostics isn't to manufacture another service.
It's to figure out what the problem actually is.
When the Problem Is Hidden
Not every ventilation problem is immediately visible.
Some ductwork runs through walls, ceilings, floors, attics or other concealed areas, and additional investigation may occasionally be necessary to determine what's happening.
When that's the case, we'll explain what we've found so far and discuss the available options before proceeding with additional work.
Ventilation Problems Don't Always Have Complicated Solutions
Sometimes the problem is a blocked exterior vent.
Sometimes it's a disconnected duct.
Sometimes it's an installation issue.
And sometimes there isn't anything seriously wrong at all.
A proper diagnosis gives us somewhere sensible to start.
